Moorestown has always been proud of its history and heritage, Nowa part of that history is
in danger of disappearing, In order to prevent another historic loss, Relief Engine Company
has taken on the challenge of preserving Moorestown's oldest piece of motorized fire
apparatus, the 1922 Ahrens Fox model R-K-4, Only five of these trucks were ever made,
It is so rare that the Franklin Mint fabricated their 1922 Ahrens Fox collectable model from
Relief Engine Company's very own truck,

This truck was originally purchased in 1922 despite objections stating the truck was too big
for our small town, At the time it was referred to as a "city truck," being able to pump 600
gallons a minute. Since that time our small town has grown and so has the demand on us
volunteers. Still, with such demands, we have done our best to keep this priceless piece of
history in working order. However as the truck continues to age problems arise that need
special talents and skill for repair. As a result we have to seek outside help to restore this
historic truck to its original glory,

Of course this help does not come free. We volunteers are asking our fellow neighbors,
friends, students, lawyers, doctors, business owners, delivery guys, construction worker,
servers, cashiers and many more to help us restore and preserve this piece of Moorestown
history.

The restoration process will take about two years to complete and will cost around $75,000.
When we first heard this our hearts sank. How c(')u/d we-come up with that kind of money?
While Easter flower sales bring in income every year, it is nowhere near the level necessary
for such and undertaking.

So how can you help Relief Engine Company restore this piece of Moorestown history?
Well, on the bottom of this letter you will note an envelope and a spot for a donation. All
funds raised will directly benefit the restoration and preservation of the 1922 Ahrens Fox fire truck. Of course if you would like to see this special piece of local history stop by during our Easter Flower sale. Or stop in when you see anyone of us at the station to get a good look or even touch a piece of Moorestown history.
